Chapter 18

BRUISER

The eight days that Wren has been back at her daddy's house have been the longest of my life. I've been sleeping like shit, and I know that I've been a fucking nightmare to be around, snapping at everyone. I never was pleasant for other people to be around before, they always seemed uneasy in my presence, but now they fucking back away from me, or they fucking leave the room as soon as I walk in. There has been a few times that I have been the security detail for Wren, but mainly Holton has me on other jobs. Pretty sure he's worried that if something goes down in that motherfucking pretentious McMansion that I'll burst in and blow her daddy's fucking head off. I probably would, but I’d make him hurt first.

Wren has managed to make a few more recordings. Got some fucking gold shit too; and also met with her security detail a few times when she takes her evening walk around the neighborhood. It's the only time her daddy lets her out of the fucking house. Because fate's a cruel bitch, I've never been on security detail when that has happened. I sigh, shifting on my rig as I watch her house from the wooded park down the street.

I’m half fucking cocked right now, which is just fucking uncomfortable. I mean, I used to fuck the club groupies regularly, but not crazy often. And it's not like I was fucking Wren continuously when I had her, but fuck me, eight days without her has been too damn long. Even the thought of her has me almost creaming my fucking pants. My phone buzzes in my pocket and I work it out of my jeans, eyes still on the front doors.

Herschel left about twenty minutes ago, not sure where, but I was pretty sure that Wren wasn't in the car with him. A smile quirks at the corners of my lips as I see that the text message I've just received is from Wren. Who is on security detail at the moment? I frown, texting back quickly, Me, why? Something better not be fucking wrong. Her reply comes through just as quickly; My father has gone to a meeting downtown. He will be gone for at least three hours. Come over? and a winky face emoji. I almost drop my phone in my eagerness to get off my rig and jog down the street, texting back as I run; On my way. I cut through a small trail between a neighbor’s yard and her daddy’s, and hop the back fence.

The back door is unlocked, and I let myself in, heading up to the second storey, making my way down the hallway and stopping at an open door. It's Wren's room all right. It's all cream carpet, pale pink walls, and fucking flowered bedspread. In the back of my mind, I think that it doesn't really suit her, but then again, after everything that she's told me about her daddy, I'm pretty sure that she didn't pick it.
